According to Spanish media, Papu Gomez was suspended for two years for taking a banned product. The 2022 world champion plays in Monza (Serie A).
The end of the career of Alejandro Dario Gomez, better known by the nickname Papu Gomez, could seriously accelerate. The 35-year-old Argentine midfielder has been suspended for two years, says the Spanish media Relevo.
Gomez tested positive for a banned product in November 2022 while wearing the Sevilla FC jersey, a few days before the start of the World Cup which he played and won with Lionel Messi and his teammates.
Papu Gomez had explained the taking of a syrup used by his son. But he should have requested authorization for therapeutic use from a doctor to possibly avoid a sanction, the duration of which was notified to him this week, specifies Relevo.
Having known for months about the positivity of the test, Sevilla FC parted ways with Papu Gomez last summer. The 1.67 meter left-hander then signed for Monza (Serie A) at the end of September as a free player.
