Real Madrid’s Turkish nugget, Arda Guler, is said to be more talented than the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner.
Arda Guler is considered one of the great hopes of Turkish football. In his country, he is even placed on a pedestal, even if he has not yet proven anything at the highest European level. Some even consider that he has greater abilities than Lionel Messi at his age.

The former youth coach of Genclerbirligi, Erol Tokgözler, spoke to the daily AS to discuss the case of the neo-merengue. He coached him before his departure to Fenerbahçe and has very good memories of it. “I met him when he was 13. When he arrived at Genclerbirligi, I was one of his teachers (currently he is still a physical education teacher), as well as his coach. One of my colleagues, before I met him, had already warned me that Arda had something exceptional. Unbelievable, it was incredible. It was clear that this was a special player. His football was based on doing whatever he put his mind to, it was impossible to predict where he was going to go. Dribbling, cutting, shooting… he had, and still has, a huge arsenal.”
He added : “(Lionel) Messi is the greatest I have ever seen and Arda has great abilities. Messi has already accomplished everything and Arda has to do it, he’s still a kid. But if we talk purely about potential, Arda has more than Messi.”

The Turkish trainer may have gotten a little carried away. He also recognizes that his former member still has everything to prove: “He still has a long way to go. His football is in its initial phase, he needs to play a lot of matches to become the player he can be. But, as I say, Arda’s potential is greater than Messi’s. I’m just talking about potential, of course.”
