Andrea Pirlo, the former Juventus coach, spoke about his short collaboration with Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo.
Andrea Pirlo is one of the many coaches that Cristiano Ronaldo knew during his long career. He didn’t coach him for too long, but in the short time he managed, he was able to appreciate his company and especially his immense professionalism.
Pirlo takes his hat off to Ronaldo
“Cristiano Ronaldo is an exemplary professional with everyone, cheerful and always smiling, declared the 2006 world champion. We never had any problems. He always wanted to play to chase all his personal bests.”
It was not only with CR7 that Pirlo enjoyed working for Turin. “There was a wonderful relationship between the players and it was satisfying to see Chiesa, Kulusevski, De Ligt, Fagioli, Frabotta grow.”
Today and after a stint in Turkey, Pirlo takes care of Sampdoria. He went down a floor but he doesn’t mind. And, above all, he is not at all resentful towards Juve’s decision-makers. “I have to thank them for giving me this chance. I think we could have done better in the following years, but I was not disappointed. I continued to do my job, maybe the experience as Juve coach gave me a different label.”
