Juventus: the sentence has fallen for Nicolo Fagioli

The ax has just fallen for Nicolo Fagioli as one might expect. The Juventus midfielder was under a heavy suspension from the FIGC (Italian Football Federation). The 22-year-old could have been suspended for up to three years for betting on sports. But the player has decided to cooperate with the authorities and will see his situation eased. The prosecution decided to sentence the player to a one-year suspension. In particular, he will be deprived of any professional sporting activity for 7 months and for 5 months he will have to undergo therapy to treat his addiction. In addition, he was ordered to pay a fine of 12,500 euros.

“The Federal Prosecutor’s Office has concluded an agreement (ex art. 126 CGS) with the footballer Nicolò Fagioli following which he will be sanctioned with a 12-month ban, including 5 in alternative prescriptions, and a fine of 12,500 euros, for the violation of article 24 of the CGS which prohibits the possibility of betting on football events organized by the FIGC, UEFA and FIFA. Regarding alternative prescriptions, Fagioli will have to participate in a therapeutic plan with a minimum duration of 6 months and a cycle of at least 10 public meetings, to be held within 5 months, in amateur sports associations, territorial centers federal, gambling addiction recovery centers, and in any case according to the indications and programs proposed by the FIGC” can we read in a press release.
