English genius Jude Bellingham is making a sensational debut for Real Madrid. Barely arrived, he became the providential man of the Merengue, with 10 goals to his credit in as many matches played.
“Zidane and Bellingham, odious comparisons”
Thanks to his performances but also to the fact that he wears the number 5 on his back, the former Dortmund player is entitled to parallels with the former local icon, the French Zinédine Zidane. Comparisons are flourishing in the Spanish media and press. And it’s clearly not to everyone’s taste.
A certain Marcos Senna, former strongman of La Roja and European champion in 2010, expressed his astonishment. “The comparisons are odious. Bellingham is just a young boy and he has only just started playing in La Liga,” he recalled.

“It’s true that he started with impressive numbers. I don’t think anyone expected it, not even him. He is a talent that will mark an era, but it is too early to make comparisons. Zidane is what he is, a legend with a great legacy. We have to wait three seasons at Real Madrid to see if Bellingham can become something similar,” added the former footballer.
Senna worked alongside Zidane for many seasons in the Spanish championship. It was also against him and his Villarreal team that the leader of the French game played his last match under the tunic of Real in 2006.
