Former FC Barcelona and Sevilla FC defender, Dani Alves, would have changed tactics in the face of justice.

Former FC Barcelona and Sevilla FC defender Dani Alves has been jailed for nine months after being accused of rape following an alleged incident in Barcelona at the end of December. Since then he has been awaiting trial, but now it appears he has taken matters into his own hands.

Alves has always maintained that he is not guilty, but El Espanol brings today that the Brazilian sought to reach an agreement with the Spanish authorities in this matter.

The report suggests this would mean a reduced sentence compared to what he faces if convicted, which is believed to be 8 to 10 years in prison. Additionally, Alves would be required to pay compensation to his alleged victim.

This change in strategy on the part of Alves comes as he has changed lawyers. Cristobal Martell was replaced by Ines Guardiola, who specializes in sexual assault cases. It remains to be seen whether this information is confirmed.
