Eden Hazard’s decision to retire from professional football has ended a frustrating few years for the Belgian.
Hazard looked set to take the world by storm after agreeing to leave Premier League giants Chelsea to join Real Madrid in 2019.
Injuries were a constant problem for Hazard during his time in Madrid, and the club’s record transfer was never able to replicate his Chelsea form in the Spanish capital.
Hazard left Los Blancos this summer, after agreeing a mutual termination of his contract with the club, and fans were relieved to see him leave the team.
After being associated for months with a possible transfer to Saudi Arabia or a return to Belgium, Eden Hazard has decided to end his career.
However, although his position appears immovable, West Ham manager Kevin Nolan claims the Hammers could be interested in a 2024 move for Eden Hazard.
Nolan said Hazard’s lifelong talent meant the door could never be completely closed on his career and cited the example of Paul Scholes’ retired return to Manchester United.
“ I would like Hazard to be at West Ham. If he wanted to come and try, I would be willing to do it. I don’t know if David Moyes would be, but I’d like to try,” according to Talksport.
“It is sad that at 32 he has decided to retire, as someone of his caliber could play at the highest level for many years to come.
