Before a decisive shock in England, Italy beat Malta 4-0 on Saturday evening.
Beaten by England on the first day of the qualifiers last March, the Italian selection meets the Three Lions next Tuesday at Wembley, for a decisive match in Group C of the Euro 2024 qualifiers. The Nazionale consolidated its 2nd place in the ranking ahead of Ukraine (tied on points) by winning against Malta (4-0) on Saturday in Bari.
Giacomo Bonaventura opened the scoring for the team of captain Gianluigi Donnarumma (23rd), before a double from Domenico Berardi (45th+1 and 64th) and a final match goal from Davide Frattesi (94th). After the shock against the English, Luciano Spalletti’s Italians will conclude their qualifying campaign against North Macedonia and especially Ukraine.
