“I would also like to clarify certain subjects and say that for my part, I always wanted to stay in Marseille. That’s what I always wanted, but it wasn’t just up to me. It always takes two to agree. This time, the technical management had made other choices, but I respect them”. This is what Alexis Sanchez (34) said when he arrived at Inter Milan. Back with the Nerazzurri after a very nice break in the Canebière, the Chilean with 155 caps (51 goals) could quickly regret his departure from the Marseille city.

Injured for his return to Serie A – enough to strain his new management – the former scorer for Manchester United, Arsenal and FC Barcelona thus missed the first three meetings of his new team. Coming into play against Real Sociedad, in the Champions League, then against Empoli and Sassuolo, in the league, the native of Tocopilla finally had his first start against Salernitana, on September 30. On the pitch for 55 minutes, Sanchez, however, could not find the fault during his team’s big victory (4-0). Worse still, he watched his substitute, Lautaro Martinez, score a quadruple in 27 minutes. Enough to reinforce Simone Inzaghi in her choice to align the Argentinian alongside Marcus Thuram, also convincing, at the forefront of the domestic attack.

Alexis Sanchez soon demoted in the hierarchy of attackers?

With 159 minutes of play played this season, Alexis Sanchez is far from the state of grace known under the Marseille tunic. Under pressure from his managers and regularly criticized for his performance in the local press, the 1m69 right-hander is, today, considered a simple replacement, not even a luxury joker. A situation which could soon get worse, according to recent information from Gazetta Dello Sport.

Indeed, according to the famous pink paper newspaper, the upper echelons of the current second in Serie A are considering recruiting a new striker. Currently in the colors of FC Porto, Mehdi Taremi would thus be on the shortlist of the last finalist of the Champions League. A recruitment which would be bad news – one more – for Alexis Sanchez who could therefore go from third to fourth choice for his coach. With this in mind, the Italian media also specifies that Inter Milan would like to take action from this winter transfer window to offer themselves the Iranian, under contract until June 2024. For Alexis Sanchez, the comeback in internal lands is, for the moment, a major failure.
