Netherlands – France: the masterful response from maestro Kylian Mbappé!

“His complicated period? I speak with him regularly. Kylian needs peace and quiet. He’s there. Tomorrow he will be part of the team which has a very specific objective. You talk about him a lot, he’s big enough to protect himself. We talk about him a lot. But he is part of a collective. He’s not here wanting to take everything. Preparation is an element that could have led to his athletic potential not being 100%. It happens to others. It’s another context. He will give the max. Obviously he had a summer which is not the summer of all players in terms of preparation.. Here is what Didier Deschamps said about Kylian Mbappé before challenging the Netherlands as part of the 6th day of qualifying for Euro 2024. And what can I say, except that the person concerned brought, this Friday evening, an extraordinary competitive response.

Aligned on the left side of the 4-3-3 designed by his coach, the Parisian number 7 shone brightly on the front of the French attack. Quickly decisive on a perfect cross from Jonathan Clauss, the captain of the Blues allowed his team to open the scoring (7th) and join Michel Platini in the ranking of the best scorers in the history of the Blues. Without doing too much, available for his partners and impeccable in his state of mind (7 duels won out of 11, the former Monegasque was, however, not satisfied. Determined to silence the emerging criticism, Mbappé dribbled a a little more his anxieties upon returning from the locker room. Staggered by Adrien Rabiot, the 2018 world champion followed up with a sublime strike ending his race in the top corner of the helpless Bart Verbruggen (53rd). Author of a double and logically elected man of the match by the FM editorial team, the Bondynois could even have scored a hat-trick in the final moments if his terrible shot did not hit the Dutch crossbar (86th).

Kylian Mbappé, a double and a qualification to reassure yourself!

A great architect of the Blues’ qualification for the next Euro, Mbappé, recently affected by a bereavement, is therefore reassured and enters a little more into the history of the France team. With 42 goals in 71 selections, the number 10 of the Tricolores officially overtakes Michel Platini in the ranking of the best scorers of the Blues. An XXL performance which did not fail to provoke a reaction on social networks and warmly praised by his teammate Adrien Rabiot at the final whistle. “We weren’t worried about Kylian (in relation to his lack of goals), he wasn’t either. We make tons of it because it’s Kylian, if he doesn’t score often, that poses a problem for some. But we are very happy for him, we did the job”admitted the Juventus Turin midfielder at the microphone of TF1. Praises also given by his coach, overwhelmed by the offensive realism of his protégé. “I am not of a worried nature with Kylian, there is no need to be worried. We have the right to be a little worse, but through what he did today… when he is like that, the French team has a much greater probability of winning its matches (laughs)”launched Deschamps before returning in more detail to the period crossed by KM7.

“Good for him given what he has experienced recently, particularly on a private level, he is setting the record straight even if there was nothing alarming. He was on his feet, available, they feared him to his face. In general, the Dutch team as a whole remained cautious. But when he is in motion, he has this above average quality. This is what makes him an extraordinary player. He also made the effort, I particularly saw him on the right when he had to compensate. He was in his role as leader, which was good for the group. It takes a lot of light but makes sure not to take it too much. There are some who would like him to speak more (in a press conference, editor’s note) but he does it on the ground.. Difficult to contradict the former OM midfielder given the response given by Kylian Mbappé at the Johan Cruyff Arena. It also bodes well for further events in the French capital…
