Former emblematic OM defender, Eric Di Meco destroyed Marcelino.

“We thought it was a great club in every sense of the word, but these deplorable events demonstrate that it is not as great a club as it would like to be. Some radical supporters who want to constantly influence events prevent it from being a big club. (…) Clubs must evolve, not regress. And OM, as the results have shown for a while, is a club which, instead of evolving, is regressing (…) I was a coach for twenty years and I have won two titles in recent seasons, and not in big clubs. OM, during this time, won zero titles. I think I had the experience and the abilities to lead OM”. In an interview given to The TeamMarcelino returned with a bang to his departure from Olympique de Marseille.

Statements which greatly irritated Eric Di Meco, who did not mince his words when discussing Marcelino’s visit to Marseille on RMC.

“He’s a small club coach”

“For me, Marcelino, he is disqualified from talking about OM. He left like a coward after two months even though he was never questioned, thus released the former OM defender. We need to explain why he is doing this interview. He is talking to possible clubs who would like to bring him back so he is trying to free himself from a fiasco. When you leave after two months, when you have not achieved your first objective which is to qualify the team for the Champions League, and when you play a game that is illegible for your players and even worse for the followers, you do not Don’t reason. »

And Di Meco adds another layer: “OM is a historic club but it is no longer a big club today, we all agree. But we need him to know? Because if OM were a big club today, Marcelino would not have come to coach. He is a small club coach. »
