The Girondins de Bordeaux, thirteenth in Ligue 2, formalized the arrival of a new coach on Thursday. The Spaniard Albert Riera succeeds David Guion.

And here Bordeaux is in crisis, starting a new cycle. David Guion dismissed last Saturday evening, a few minutes after a home defeat to the Laval leader (0-1, 10th day of Ligue 2), it is Albert Riera’s turn to lead the Gironde team to a successful conclusion.

The 41-year-old Spanish coach, a Bordeaux player between 2003 and 2005, was released by NK Celje, which he had managed this season for 11 days of the Slovenian Championship.

The former midfielder has signed until June 30, 2025 and arrives with two assistants: Pablo Remon Arteta and Julien Gimenez.

Albert Riera will experience a fourth club in three seasons after Galatasaray (assistant starter – 2021-2022), NK Olimpija (2022-2023) and NK Celje (July to October 2023).
