While Saudi Arabia is already the big favorite to host the 2034 World Cup, a bid from Southeast Asia is in full preparation.

After granting the 2030 World Cup to Spain, Morocco and Portugal, with opening matches relocated to Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay, Fifa has already planned to turn to Asia and Oceania for the 2034 edition. Everything suggests that the international body will offer competition to Saudi Arabia, which was already in the race for 2030.

The Southeast Asian federations have recently discussed the organization of a next World Cup. Erick Thohir, the former owner of Inter Milan, now president of the Indonesian football federation, revealed a file in preparation with Malaysia, Singapore, but also Australia, which has just organized the Cup of the feminine world. These federations have until October 31 to submit their application.

On the Asian continent, Japan and South Korea hosted the 2002 World Cup and Qatar was the venue for last year’s World Cup. China as well as the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan duo have also discussed in recent years the possibility of entering the race to organize the major international competition.
