The Turin public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into betting on illegal platforms. As we read in La Stampa, Nicolò Fagioli is also one of the suspects on the register. On August 30, the 22-year-old Juventus midfielder’s lawyers and prosecutor Manuela Pedrotta took the case to the FIGC prosecutor’s office, which in turn opened an investigation.

For all professional footballers in Italy, there is a ban on betting on any sporting event organized by the FIGC, UEFA or FIFA. From a sporting point of view, Fagioli risks a fine of 25,000 euros and a suspension of up to 3 years. However, the contravention provided for in article 720 of the Penal Code (Participation in games of chance) “is punishable by imprisonment of up to six months or a fine of up to 516 euros”.
