Big danger for Deschamps?

Even if the France team has won its first five matches in the Euro 2024 qualifiers, the Blues have every interest in not losing during the clash in the Netherlands on Friday in order to be one of the top seeds in the draw to the fate of the competition.

Contrary to what some may think, the France team must not relax while it sits at the top of its Euro 2024 qualifying group with five victories in as many matches. The Blues challenge the Netherlands on Friday evening (8:45 p.m.) in Amsterdam, and a defeat could call everything into question. Not really for qualification, but for the draw (on October 9) for this European Championship organized in Germany next summer.

As for Euro 2020, UEFA takes into account the results of the teams during qualifying and the Blues are virtually in the hat of the six seeds in the draw (including the Mannschaft). Except that other national selections have been intractable since the start of the qualifiers. Scotland and Portugal are also strong, while England, Croatia, Belgium, Switzerland and Hungary are all leading the way in their respective groups without a single defeat.

Basically, in the event of a bad result at the Johan Cruyff Arena, the vice-world champions may very well not be among the five best teams in the qualifiers and fall into pot 2 of the draw. Kylian Mbappé and his teammates remain in a strong position as they finish their qualifying campaign against Gibraltar and Greece on November 18 and 21.
