French legend Thierry Henry had very complimentary words for newly retired Eden Hazard.
Hampered by injuries, Eden Hazard made the choice at only 31 years old to stop his professional career. Since his decision was made public, tributes have poured in for him. And among the most notable was that of Thierry Henry, his former coach in the Belgian selection.
“Hazard? An instinctive player »
Henry spent several years as assistant coach of the Red Devils. He took care of the attackers in particular. He was therefore able to rub shoulders with Eden Hazard on a daily basis. Today, he recognizes that he is a special player and that he took great pleasure in watching him perform.
“My favorite player to watch play in recent years is Eden Hazard. It was… Wow! But he’s an instinctive player! You simply have to give them instructions on the areas where they are going to receive the ball and they will be able to express themselves. In the structure, he does what he wants”he declared in an interview with L’Equipe.
Together, Henry and Hazard had almost conquered the world. It was 2018 in Russia. But Didier Deschamps’ French team stood in their way. In the semi-final of the World Cup, they lost 0-1 on a goal from Samuel Umtiti.
