While Newcastle has been under the Saudi flag since the fall of 2021, the Gulf country could once again buy a European club. According to information from the English media The Independent, two clubs caught the eye of the Saudis. We thus find the club Valence CF, currently 9th in Liga but also Olympique de Marseille. Intermediaries would work for a takeover and the objective of the Asian country would be to bet on a club with a strong historical heritage but whose recent results are below its prestige. This would provide significant room for growth.

Playing in La Liga, a more prestigious championship, Valencia is considered more attractive but president Peter Lim would hesitate to sell the beloved club. This could give an advantage to Olympique de Marseille, whose sales process would be much simpler to set up. This fits into Saudi sports policy around the 2034 World Cup for which Saudi Arabia is a candidate.
