Romelu Lukaku has highlighted the positive impact of José Mourinho since joining AS Roma on loan in the summer.
The Belgian was expected to leave Chelsea permanently in the last transfer window, but after angering Inter Milan and Juventus, Lukaku left Stamford Bridge to join AS Roma in the form of a loan.
Since returning to Serie A for the second year in a row, Lukaku has shone as Roma begin to find their feet under Mourinho.
The player on loan from Chelsea has scored seven goals in just eight appearances for Roma, including five in the Italian top division and two in the Europa League.
His goals have helped Roma make it three wins in a row and five wins in their last seven matches in all competitions.
Lukaku, 30, was trained by Mourinho at Manchester United and the reunion between the pair played a key role in the Belgian’s Roma debut.
After the 4-1 victory against Cagliari on Sunday, Lukaku spoke to the press, via Tuttomercatoweb: “I prove on the field what I can bring to a team. Today everything went well.
“As I have said in the past, he (Mourinho) and I have a special relationship. He knows me and my children. He is someone I can trust and who trusts me. It’s tough, but it’s the only way I’ll grow.”
