The L1 match between Montpellier and Clermont is suspended on upcoming decisions by the Professional Football League.

Interrupted in added time of the second period while MHSC led 4-2, the championship match between Montpellier and Clermont will be played on the green carpet. Victim of a firecracker whose explosion literally stunned him, Clermont goalkeeper Mory Diaw had to be evacuated on a stretcher. The author of this stupid gesture was arrested, in a state of intoxication.

If it is not the individual sanction which promises to hit the pseudo-pailladin supporter, it is indeed the sentence which awaits the Hérault club in question today – the latter promising to be heavy in view of the article 541 of the statutes and regulations of the LFP. The Montpellier residents risk losing the match outright, accompanied by a possible withdrawal of point(s) and a closure of the stands.

Precedents that sting

Last season in Ligue 2, Bordeaux lost a match, the withdrawal of a point for the following year and a partial closed session for the attack on a Rodez player by a Girondin supporter. Two years ago, Marseillais Dimitri Payet suffered a bottle throw in Nice which also caused the interruption of the debates. The Gym then received a withdrawal of two points, one of which was suspended, plus a closed session of three matches. The match, however, was replayed.
