Giroud in the team of the week… as a goalkeeper!

AC Milan star Olivier Giroud has been named in the Serie A team of the week, but as a goalkeeper, for his exploits against Genoa.

The seasoned striker took over as goalkeeper after Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan was sent off late in the match against Genoa. Giroud made a heroic save in the final minutes of the match which allowed his side to keep a clean sheet and take three points in a chaotic Serie A match this weekend. American star Christian Pulisic scored the only goal of the match in the 87th minute.

The French striker’s performance earned him a place in the Serie A Team of the Week as a goalkeeper, instead of his usual attacking position.

To honor his valiant performance during the match, AC Milan put on sale special jerseys of Olivier Giroud as goalkeeper.

Fans can purchase goalkeeper jerseys and personalize them with “Giroud 9”.
