Alberto Zangrillo will take time to digest Genoa’s defeat against AC Milan on Saturday evening (0-1). While they held their opponent on their lawn, the Gilardino players gave in at the end of the match on a goal from Christian Pulisic (0-1), before completely shattering. Despite the expulsion of Mike Maignan, author of an absolutely dangerous outing and replaced by… Olivier Giroud (90+10th) in goal after consulting the VAR, the Genovese were not able to come back to the score. Worse, they also saw their goalkeeper Josep Martinez sent to the locker room after a dangerous gesture (90+13th).

Interviewed at the microphone of Sky Sport at the end of the meeting, the president of Genoa, Alberto Zangrillo, unpacked everything, pointing the finger at the arbitration, AC Milan but also Mike Maignan for his gesture which he describes as “murderer” : “As a doctor, I can describe this outing as deadly, he said after the French goalkeeper’s knee hit Ekuban in the face. Let’s see how many suspension matches they give Maignan. I am here to invoke the respect of the 35,000 supporters present. The match is ruined, Gilardino (the coach) won’t come here because I don’t want him to be suspended. We play in two completely different leagues anyway. We are in a world where Goliath always wins against David.” At least, it’s clear.
