FC Barcelona was held in check on Sunday at Granada, penultimate in La Liga (2-2, 9th day). Jules Koundé left with an injury.

Not a good Sunday evening for FC Barcelona. Traveling to a poorly ranked team, the Catalan club nevertheless had a great opportunity to return to the wake of Real Madrid, but also to recover the second place left to Girona, winner on Saturday of Cádiz (0-1). Mission failed by Xavi’s men who scared themselves very much by snatching a draw point at the last minute for Granada (2-2, 9th day of La Liga). To complete the bleak picture, Jules Koundé had to leave his partners due to injury, just before the break.

It is still a little too early to know what exactly the French defender is suffering from, but the first echoes from Spain were not too encouraging, with some mentioning a “ slight sprain of left knee“. The upcoming exams will say more and will also specify whether or not Koundé will be operational to join the Blues this week. In the meantime, Barcelona shared the points after being led by two goals.

Joao Felix believed in it

In less than half an hour, and thanks to Zaragoza’s double (1st and 29th), Granada surprised everyone and delighted their supporters. In search of its second success of the season, the host club thought they were on the right track, especially since Koundé was injured on the Catalan side (44th). But just before the break, Yamal gave the visitors some hope by reducing the gap (2-1, 45th+1). Ultra-dominant in the game in the second (as in the first) period, the Blaugrana ended up equalizing through Sergi Roberto in the last minutes of the match (2-2, 86th).

And they even thought they would win at the end, but Joao Felix’s goal was refused for offside (90th + 4). Thanks to this small point gleaned, Barça is now third, three points behind the leader Merengue. As for Granada, which came close to a small feat, it remains nineteenth, two points behind Alaves, the first non-relegation place.
