After Inter’s prolific draw at home against Bologna (2-2), a final match was played in Italy this Saturday evening for the 8th day of Serie A. AC Milan took to the pitch of Genoa to regain the leadership position from its interist rival and neighbor. Despite Juventus’ victory late in the afternoon, the Rossoneri could also outdistance their main competitor for the title at the end of the season. A crucial meeting therefore for the Milanese. While a false rhythm quickly established itself in the match, both teams found it difficult to be dangerous in the opposing part of the field. After a tasteless first act, the coaches made several changes upon returning from the locker room.

And the Lombard club finally had to wait until the very last moments to make the difference thanks to Christian Pulisic (87th, 0-1). In a completely crazy end to the match, Mike Maignan was sent off for a dangerous but totally involuntary gesture on an outing in front of Caleb Ekuban (90th + 8) while Olivier Giroud had to take his place in the Milan cages. On the free kick, the locals found the crossbar after a deflection (90th + 12). At the end of added time, Genoa goalkeeper Josep Martinez was also sent off for a foul on a Rossoneri counterattack. Nevertheless, it is a very important victory which allows AC Milan to take the reins of Serie A.
