The confirmation of Paul Pogba’s positive test will probably put an end to the Frenchman’s contract with Juventus. The rest of his career is up in the air.

The ax has fallen for Paul Pogba. The analysis of the B sample confirmed the positive test for testosterone from the 2018 world champion. The latter now has 20 days to decide whether or not he admits his guilt, indicates Gazzetta dello Sport, otherwise he will have to go to trial.

Pogba now faces a four-year ban. This could be reduced by one year if the player admits his fault. And the regulation also provides for a reduction in the sentence if the former Mancunian can prove that he did not consume this product to improve his performance. The Italian press thus imagines a probable suspension of one or two years for the Frenchman.

Regardless, Juventus should take the opportunity to terminate Pogba’s contract. If a suspension of more than six months is pronounced, the Italian club will be able to break the Frenchman’s lease, and make a colossal saving, since “La Pioche” had signed until 2026 with a salary of 10 million euros per year, in counting bonuses.

However, Gazzetta indicates that Juventus could wait. There is no urgency, because Pogba’s salary has fallen to the strict minimum, 42,477 euros per year, during the procedure. And a clause in the Frenchman’s contract provides for penalties in the event of termination before next June. Juve could therefore wait until the end of the season, but the result would be the same. And Pogba’s future is still unclear…
