Luis Enrique insisted Wednesday’s 4-1 scoreline flatters Newcastle and his Paris Saint-Germain side were the stronger of the two.

This is the heaviest defeat in the Champions League group stage since September 2004, which gave rise to severe internal discussions between PSG players. However, one man who doesn’t think his team deserved to be beaten the way they were is their manager, who said the scoreline was flattering for the hosts.
In an interview given to ParisianLuis Enrique released a funny analysis: “ We did not deserve this result. We took stock of the errors and the situations that we can improve. Wednesday’s result does not reflect the scenario of the match at all. It is obvious that we made mistakes which cost us goals, but the score is harsh. In my career, I have lost a few times by a significant margin, but when I did, it was because the opponent was stronger. This was not the case here. I’m not here to say what people want to hear. I liked the personality and attitude of my team. Yes, Newcastle deserved to win, yes, there is room for improvement, but the result did not match what we saw on the pitch.
The atmosphere in Paris is not good after the humiliation suffered on Wednesday against a team which was playing its first Champions League match at home in around twenty years. The Parisians are second behind Newcastle in Group F and are also in great difficulty in the league.
