The Racing Club de Strasbourg welcomes FC Nantes for the 8th day of Ligue 1, this Friday (9 p.m.). Here is the expected lineup for the Canaries.
After a frustrating defeat in the Breton derby against Rennes (1-3), Nantes has the opportunity to bounce back quickly. The Canaries travel to Strasbourg this Friday evening to try to resume their progress. A victory at Meinau would allow them to temporarily climb into the top 10.
“We have the chance and the opportunity to make up for it after the defeat in Rennes on Sunday by quickly replaying a match, explained Pierre Aristouy. It was necessary to re-stabilize ourselves emotionally because we are going to Strasbourg, a place where fervor is important. The link with supporters is important there, the Strasbourg team is performing well at home. We have no other choice but to quickly focus on this match in Strasbourg. (…) We must show consistency after the defeat in Rennes. We have to move forward and restart the points counter.”
Still, the Canaries coach will have to deal with several important absences for this match. Ignatius Ganago and Fabien Centonze are in the infirmary, while Mostafa Mohamed, offensive leader, is suspended after his expulsion in the derby. As a direct consequence, it is the young Matthis Abline, on loan from Rennes, who is expected at the forefront of the attack. For the rest, Simon, Chirivella, Merlin, Castelletto and Lafont are also expected to be in the starting lineup.
The expected line-up for Nantes : Lafont – Pierre-Gabriel, Cömert, Castelletto, Merlin – Chirivella, Douglas – Bamba, Mollet, Simon – Abline.
