Newcastle striker Sean Longstaff revealed what he asked Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappé after the Magpies’ historic 4-1 victory.

The Magpies secured a historic Champions League victory at St. James’ Park on Wednesday night thanks to goals from Miguel Almiron, Dan Burn, Longstaff and Fabian Schar. After the match, where Lucas Hernandez’s header proved little consolation for the visitors, Longstaff was seen chatting with French world champion Mbappé and he has now revealed the contents of their brief conversation.

When Longstaff was told that the TNT Sports cameras had caught him asking a slightly upset Mbappé for his jersey, the midfielder burst out laughing.

When asked how he was able to beat his teammates to obtain this souvenir, he replied: “ I think I stopped him from shooting on goal, I told myself I was going to try to get his jersey for my little brother, I was hoping I was going to get it anyway.”

Newcastle are in the Champions League for the first time in 20 years and, after matches against AC Milan and PSG, the English club lead Group F with four points. Eddie Howe’s men, who next play Borussia Dortmund, have outperformed Luis Enrique’s side and are now in a good position to escape the so-called ‘group of death’.
