This morning, Vinicius Junior came to testify in court in the case of the racist insults he received last May during the Valencia-Real Madrid match at Mestalla (1-0). The Brazilian said he felt offended and humiliated. But obviously, some of his statements are no longer relevant to Valencia, which has just published a press release to ask the Auriverde international to modify its remarks.
“In view of the information published about the alleged statement of the footballer Vinícius Jr. in court, according to which the entire Mestalla stadium had hurled racist insults at him during the match between Valencia CF and Real Madrid CF last season, the club wishes to express its surprise, rejection and indignation. As coach Carlo Ancelotti publicly acknowledged, this behavior cannot under any circumstances be generalized to the entire Mestalla stadium. The Club is fully aware of the seriousness of this matter. Racism has no place in football or in society, but it cannot be fought with sophisms or baseless lies. This issue requires everyone’s involvement and Valencia CF understands that we must be scrupulously precise and responsible in these types of events. Valencia supporters cannot be described as racist and Valencia CF demands that Vinicius Jr. publicly corrects the statement he made this morning.”we can read.
