PSG’s heavy defeat (4-1) on Newcastle’s pitch clearly amounts to a humiliation. One more for the capital club in the Champions League.

Wednesday evening, during the second day of the group stage of the Champions League, Paris Saint-Germain were crushed (4-1) by Newcastle United at St James’ Park. Unfortunately for him, the capital club is too used to being humiliated in the European Cup. And this is not new. During the 1996-1997 season, for the only appearance of a French club in the European Super Cup, the Rouge et Bleu were corrected (6-1) by Juventus Turin at the Parc des Princes. During the following exercise, it was Bayern Munich’s turn to humiliate Paris (5-1) in the C1 group.

A year later, the club founded in 1970 was pitifully eliminated from the defunct Cup Winners’ Cup by Maccabi Haifa. Yet another example: in March 2001, PSG lost 4-3 on the La Coruna pitch in the second group stage of the Champions League. Luis Fernandez’s men led 3-0 shortly before the hour mark. Under QSI, Paris continued the tradition of disappointments of all kinds. Overview of Parisian humiliations in the Champions League under the Qatari flag.
