Didier Deschamps has just revealed his list for the French team’s next matches. The Blues will indeed challenge the Netherlands in the qualifiers for Euro 2024 on Friday October 13, before finishing with a friendly match against Scotland on Tuesday October 17. Little new, except the return of Jonathan Clauss. But there is one man – a teenager even – who was expected by many fans: Warren Zaire-Emery.
Very important under the orders of Luis Enrique, the Parisian titi, only 17 years old, is indeed one of the fittest French players at the moment. The one who started 6 of PSG’s 7 matches in Ligue 1 this season was once again one of the rare players who was more or less up to the task on Wednesday, during the Parisian disaster at Newcastle. At a press conference, Didier Deschamps, who did not call him for this rally, revealed that it is very likely that he will be called in the future.
Deschamps wants him to gain experience with the Espoirs
“Take it from Thierry (Henry, the Espoirs coach)? No (laughs). Warren, what he has achieved since the start of the season could have been surprising at first, but I discuss with Titi in relation to what he was able to do with the Espoirs. This is potentially very interesting. Today, he is potentially able to be on this list. Between a very important role at PSG and with the Espoirs and a somewhat secondary role with us, I leave priority to Titi and the Espoirs. But if he continues like this, obviously he is a serious candidate to have a role in midfield. Because of what he achieves, and with incredible maturity”replied the national coach.
Deschamps therefore prefers that he continues to have an important role with the Espoirs, rather than logically less playing time with the A team. Clearly, the former French international does not want to burn the player who is not not even an adult, and he believes that for his development, it is better to study with the Espoirs. But as he explained, he won’t be able to wait indefinitely if the Parisian continues to string together top-level performances…
