French coach Jocelyn Gourvennec is about to take on a new challenge in Africa.
After applying unsuccessfully for the position of coach of the Espoirs, Jocelyn Gourvennec should bounce back to another continent. The ex-coach of Bordeaux and Guingamp has a good chance of continuing his career in Algeria.
Gourvennec in the absence of Montanier?
According to journalist Mehenni Sofiane, Gourvennec is in pole position to take the reins of the JS Kabylie team. It is a large local club and its mission will be to restore the image of this team which has won almost nothing during the last decade.
Before turning to Gourvennec, the management of the JSK had thought of another Frenchman in the person of Philippe Montanier. Although free since his departure from Toulouse, the latter kindly declined the position.
In the past, the Kabyles had been driven by other French technicians. Franck Dumas, Henri Stambouli, Hubert Velud and Denis Lavagne, to name just a few, have all passed through Tizi Ouzou.
