Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat faces his first criticism in England.

Praised from all sides after his first two good matches with MU, Sofyan Amrabat is now faced with external barbs which are not at all good to hear. A club icon has hit out at him following this weekend’s loss to Crystal Palace.

“Amrabat?” He’s making a stupid mistake.”

Peter Schmeichel, the former great Manchester goalkeeper, believes that Sofyan Amrabat is responsible for the defeat conceded against the Eagles. The Moroccan gave the free kick which led to Joachim Andersen’s goal for the visitors. And for this error, he was not spared by the ex-Red Devils goalkeeper.

“We talked about Amrabat before the match,” Schmeichel said. “It’s his first full match in the Premier League and he didn’t have a great game. He makes a stupid mistake which results in this free kick.”

While attacking Amrabat, the 92 European champion recognized that his compatriot’s goal was also exceptional: “Joachim Anderson scored a fantastic goal hitting the ball like that. We can discuss whether the goalkeeper should have done better, whether the defense should have done better, but you just have to appreciate this goal. It’s a fantastic goal.”
