Thanks to a great success in Lorient this Sunday, Montpellier moved back to the top half of the table in Ligue 1.

The Stade du Moustoir was the scene of teams lacking confidence this Sunday afternoon. Without a victory for three matches (one draw, two defeats), the FC Lorient received Montpellierwho had not won for four matches, with a last victory in Lyon on August 19.

Adams finds the net again

Woe to the loser in this match, and it was the Héraultais who took the match from the right end. Very enterprising in the first period, they were rewarded by opening the scoreAkor Adams at the half-hour mark. The Nigerian found the net again and ended a series of four matches without scoring. Despite the efforts of Merlus – particularly on a corner – to come back and the shot on the bar Theo Le Bris just before the break, it was the visitors who returned to the locker room with a goal in advance.

Lorient is active in the second half but struggles to really worry Benjamin Lecomte and will ultimately be punished. At the 73rd, Téji Savanier converts a penalty and doubles the lead with his first goal of the season. The bill will be even higher for the Lorientais since Adams scores a double in the 89th minute. The scorer puts his finishing skills to work by converting a very good serve from Joris Chotard, taking second place in the Ligue 1 scorers’ ranking behind Kylian Mbappé.

Thanks to this great success (3-0), Montpellier moves back into the first part of the table (8th), Lorient sinks on the other hand and finds itself in a barrier position after having conceded 10 goals in the last three matches.
