Olympique Lyonnais remains last in Ligue 1 after another defeat, conceded on Sunday on the pitch at Stade de Reims (2-0).

The large size of Jake O’Brien (1.97 m) and Skelly Alvero (2.02 m) did not allow Olympique Lyonnais to raise their level of play. Sunday in Reims, the starts of the Irish defender , 22, and the French midfielder, 21, did not have the effect hoped for by Fabio Grosso.

The Italian coach led his second match on the OL bench in Champagne, opting for a three-man defense (Mata, O’Brien, Diomandé) and Mama Baldé as center forward to replace the suspended captain Alexandre Lacazette.

The desire to do well did not mask the individual and collective shortcomings of a bottom player in Ligue 1. Anthony Lopes’ teammates nevertheless held on in the first half before breaking down in added time with a superb shot. header of Munetsi (1-0, 45th+1).

The OL goalkeeper couldn’t do much either on a recovery from Abdelhamid after a save in front of Ito’s head (2-0, 71st).

The exits of Cherki and Tolisso in the 53rd minute may suggest that Fabio Grosso continues to fumble. He may have to wait before seeing the first effects of his work.
