Who says big poster, says breastfeeding scenario. Tottenham once again had an appointment for a Premier League shock. After facing Arsenal in the derby (1-1) last week, Spurs this time hosted Liverpool for another exciting meeting, concluded with a success for the Londoners (2-1). During this fierce duel, the Reds thought they were doing the hard part by opening the score in the wake of Colombian striker Luis Diaz (32nd). But the referee of the match, Mr. Simon Hooper, decided to invalidate the match for a supposed offside position. Several hours after the meeting, social networks, the British press and Liverpool supporters still cannot believe this decision which completely changed the trend of the meeting.
Klopp’s troops then collapsed. Two minutes later, the Korean Son Heung-min allowed Spurs to take the lead and Liverpool even finished the match nine against eleven after two exclusions: first of Curtis Jones (26th) for a big sole on Bissouma. Shortly after the hour mark, Diogo Jota was guilty of two avoidable fouls in the space of two minutes and was therefore sent off (68th). Two big incidents of play against Liverpool but which required VAR intervention. This same VAR which did not seem to be working when checking Luis Diaz’s goal, when the score was still goalless. Enough is enough for the Reds and the time has come for accountability…
A big mistake recognized!
The Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) has admitted that Colombian striker Luis Diaz’s goal should have been validated against Tottenham. The governing body released a statement after Liverpool’s controversial defeat to Spurs, acknowledging some issues in the refereeing: “The PGMOL acknowledges that a significant human error occurred during Tottenham Hotspurs’ first half against Liverpool. Luiz Diaz’s goal was ruled out for offside by the match officials on the field. This was a clear and obvious factual error and should have resulted in the goal being awarded via VAR intervention, however, VAR did not intervene. PGMOL will conduct a full review of the circumstances that led to the error. PGMOL will immediately contact Liverpool at the end of the match to acknowledge the error.it is then written in the official press release published by the British institution.
If this goal had been validated in the 34th minute, Jürgen Klopp’s players would have led the score. A decision which could have completely changed the outcome of this poster, this shock of the 7th day of the Premier League. Moreover, Korean striker Son Heung-min opened the scoring just two minutes after this strike from Diaz. On the set of the Sky Sportconsultant and former Tottenham player Jamie Redknapp couldn’t believe his eyes: “It’s shocking to me, I think everyone at home could see that the goal was valid. You really wonder how many other decisions they made, because we draw lines on shirts, legs and the arms, the bikini lines, we need clarification. They’re wrong by about a meter, it’s not as thin as a line, it’s the human eye, it’s really bad. We gave PGMOL so many opportunities to explain things”. In any case, this match continues to be explosive several hours after the final whistle.
