The Italian coach surprised by calling on several elements from OM’s youth teams.
Arriving in Marseille in the middle of the week, Gennaro Gattuso did not wait very long before making his mark. For his first match, scheduled for this Saturday against Monaco, the Italian technician chose to call on several novices.
Two “Blues” in Gattuso’s group
In midfield, and in the absence of suspended Geoffrey Kondogbia, the Italian coach chose to call up Bilal Nadir (19 years old) and Noam Mayoka-Tika (19 years old). If the presence of the first could be predictable, that of the second is much less so. Had two, these young Marseille players have only played 7 minutes this season (all for Nadir).

The duo still has little chance of being aligned on the Rock. For his starting lineup, “Il Rino” should certainly call on more experienced elements. In attack, he is notably expected to align Joaquin Correa on the left flank and Iliman Ndiaye on the right. The point returning to Vitinha. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ismaila Sarr should pay the price for his arrival.
In midfield, and as Jacques Abardonado did, it is likely that he will trust Azzedine Ounahi to accompany Valentin Rongier and Jordan Veretout. Note that the latter is the only one with whom he will be able to converse in Italian on the field. The French international having played for several years in Serie A (Roma and Fiorentina).
