While FC Barcelona provisionally took the lead in La Liga thanks to its victory against Sevilla on Friday, Real Madrid took to the Girona pitch, surprising second in La Liga and even leader before the start of this 8th day. After their victory against Las Palmas on Wednesday, the Merengues had the ambition to continue and regain the leadership chair from rival Barcelona.

Tchouaméni opens his counter

Despite a start to the match dominated by the visitors, the Whites opened the scoring thanks to Joselu, well served by a magnificent cross from the outside of Jude Bellingham’s foot. (0-1, 17th). Four minutes later, Aurélien Tchouaméni took a corner from Toni Kroos and scored his first goal in the Real jersey. (2-0, 21st)

Bellingham, again

Carlo Ancelotti’s men manage to maintain this two-goal advantage despite several offensives from Blanquivermells. They even hit the nail on the head 20 minutes from time thanks to the inevitable Jude Bellingham. At the origin of a Madrid against, the English international finds himself at the conclusion and scores his 6th goal of the season in the championship, allowing him to take first place in the scorers’ ranking. The former Dortmund player has scored 7 goals in 8 matches in all competitions since his arrival.

Thanks to this success, Real Madrid takes the lead in La Liga and is full of confidence before the Champions League clash on the lawn of Napoli on Tuesday. The only downside, the exclusion of Nacho Fernandez for a dangerous tackle at the end of the match which led to a general scuffle, he is added to the long list of players absent from Real, particularly in defense.
