After winning everything with Bayern Munich, including two Champions Leagues, Jérôme Boateng was the flagship recruit for Olympique Lyonnais during the 2021 summer transfer window. Unfortunately for Les Gones, the transfer of the German central defender turned out to be a resounding failure. Arriving in Lyon to bring his experience, the former Bavarian especially stood out for his recurring injuries and it could even be one of the biggest casting errors made by the Rhone leaders, both sportingly and financially.

Jérôme Boateng therefore left OL through the back door at the end of his contract with the Lyon team. Despite his status as a free agent, the 35-year-old has not made headlines this summer except for a sordid affair of domestic violence during the month of September. Indeed, according to information from AFP, the Bavarian High Court prosecuted the 2014 world champion for “assault, injury and insult” against his former partner before overturning his conviction. Despite this, the German international could bounce back at his former club!

Bayern want to bring back Jérôme Boateng

And according to information from the German press, the reigning Champion of the Bundesliga is considering repatriating Jérôme Boateng, a former pillar of the recent history of the Rekordmeister, whom he had left to try his luck in France, on the side of the Olympique Lyonnais therefore.

The German central defender could therefore make his comeback at Bayern Munich, and more quickly than expected. According to the latest indiscretions of our colleagues at Sky Sport, talks have in fact already taken place. Bayern bosses have even been thinking about this transfer for some time. If a medical examination has not yet been scheduled for the former Bavarian, other discussions are planned for this Sunday in order to advance the negotiations as quickly as possible. To be continued…
