The murderous exit of José Mourinho

Love lasts three years with José Mourinho. Very often, the Portuguese technician has one or two good seasons with his teams. But he generally experiences more difficulties during his third year. This was the case during his first stint at Chelsea or Real Madrid, where he had problems with several executives in the Merengue locker room during his last season. History seems to be repeating itself at AS Roma. Present on the Roman bench since the summer of 2021, the Special One has had a rather interesting start.

But this season, his team is struggling. Indeed, they have only pocketed five points in six Serie A days. Sixteenth in the standings, La Louve has a total of one victory, two draws and three defeats. Insufficient for Mourinho (60), who nevertheless started well in the Europa League with a success against Sheriff Tiraspol on the first day. In the championship, the capital club is in a bit more trouble. The defeat last night against Genoa (4-1) was obviously too much for the former Manchester United coach.

Mourinho is lucid

The Lusitano coach took time before appearing in front of the press. Annoyed, the one who remained silent in the locker room in front of his men then told journalists: “I don’t really want to talk. I didn’t speak to my players after the match. After the canceled 2-1, we felt like we could have equalized. After the 3-1, match over. The fourth goal is out of context, it’s the kind of evening that can end in disaster. It can even end with five, six goals… It’s anecdotal.” Then he added: “It’s true that this is the worst start to the season of my career. But this club had never made two European finals (before him, editor’s note)”. Touched, Mourinho then tried to explain the reasons for this new failure.

“We have a lot of injuries. But that’s no excuse. It is the consequence of the team’s state of mind and collective work. Every shot turns into a goal. Can this group get through this? Now is not the time to talk about it. The group will remain the same, the transfer window is over, no one will arrive. We don’t have time to cry. It’s certain that I cry from the inside, especially for my very strong relationship with the fans. The pain is not personal, professional, but that which I feel towards my supporters. A double pain, because we too are supporters of Rome. From tomorrow, we will be at work for the next match. It will be Sunday against Frosinone.
