While the two clubs currently face each other at the Olympic Stadium in Montjuic, for the 8th day of La Liga, FC Barcelona and Sevilla FC are at war. Still implicated in the Negreira affair and after new revelations, Barça was attacked by the Andalusian club through a press release indicating that the Sevillian management was going to boycott the trip to Montjuic, “out of respect for the competition and the supporters” and expressing “his total indignation at the practices carried out by former leaders of FC Barcelona”.

In response to its Spanish rival, FC Barcelona announces severing its relations with the Sevillian institution “as long as it does not change its current position (…) Barcelona understands that this is an attack on the Catalan institution and an unacceptable offense. The so-called “Negreira Affair” cannot serve as an excuse for such actions since the legal proceedings are in a very premature investigation phase and the positioning of Sevilla FC clearly prejudges facts which, in no case, and in none of their preliminary and hypothetical typologies, are accredited”.
