Former Olympique de Marseille coach Jorge Sampaoli has been dismissed as Flamengo coach.
Once again, Jorge Sampaoli will not finish his lease at the head of a team. Indeed, the famous Rio De Janeiro club, Flamengo, has announced that it is terminating the contract of the 63-year-old Argentine coach. He thus leaves the ship after only five months spent at the head of the Brazilian team and in the wake of its failure in the Brazilian Cup final against Sao Paulo (0-1, 1-1).
“ Coach Jorge Sampaoli and his staff will no longer lead the Rouge et Noir team », indicated the carioca club on its X account, wishing it “ good luck for the rest of his career “. Once again, Sampaoli will receive severance pay, here almost 1.8 million euros according to local media, for the termination of his contract which ran until December 31, 2024.

As a reminder, the Argentine coach was recruited in April, shortly after his dismissal from Sevilla FC. He only lasted five months at the head of the Spanish team. Recently, his name returned to the forefront at Olympique de Marseille, the club he coached between March 2021 and June 2022. In search of a new technician, OM ultimately preferred to focus on Gennaro Gattuso.
