The experienced French coach, Christian Gourcuff, could make his return to Algeria.

After having served there for two years as national coach (between 2014 and 2016), Christian Gourcuff is likely to return to Algeria. This time, it’s to take charge of a club.

Gourcuff to the aid of the Canaries?

According to journalist Ibersiene Jugur, the Breton technician is well placed to take control of JS Kabylie. It is the most successful club in the country and the management in place is hoping for a big name to bring color to its formation. Over the last decade, the Tizi Ouzou club has won nothing, except the League Cup in 2021.

Gourcuff has not coached since the end of his disappointing experience at FC Nantes. When leaving Loire-Atlantique, he even hinted that he was retiring for good. We have to believe that the prospect of coaching other Canaries would have led him to change his mind and return to service.

During his time at the head of the Greens, Gourcuff guided Riyad Mahrez and his partners to the quarter-finals of the 2015 CAN. He abandoned his functions after a play-off for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Tanzania due to a dispute with the Federation.
