Barça is looking for an understudy in Lewandowski
The Catalan club is currently looking for a new striker, in order to relieve or possibly replace their striker Robert Lewandowski. And rumors emanating from Catalonia suggest that the leaders have set their sights on a Leicester player.
According to the daily Sport, the player in question would be Wilfried Ndidi. The Nigerian international would please Xavi, the team coach. He didn’t have the best of campaigns last season, but he seems to be returning to his best this year with the change of staff at the Foxes.
Ndidi will be free this summer, as his contract expires at the end of the current season. Barça will not have to pay a single penny to recruit him. And this is what would explain his interest in this element.
For information, the last Nigerian striker to have played for Barça was Emmanuel Amuneke (1996/1997). And it wasn’t very successful.
