OL: the two clans that divide the locker room

The poor results of Olympique Lyonnais would have an impact on the atmosphere within a divided locker room.

A 17th place in Ligue 1, no victory on the clock, a change of coach and a game that has been singled out: the start of the season for Olympique Lyonnais looks like an ordeal. And this situation is not without consequences for the atmosphere within the club. According to Sofiane Zouaoui, speaking in After Foot on RMC, the current locker room is fractured.

The journalist, who also speaks on Winamax TV, explained that certain executives like Alexandre Lacazette and Corentin Tolisso were no longer at all on the same wavelength as other players, including Rayan Cherki, whose personality is divisive. “He clearly saw that the two (Lacazette and Tolisso) and part of the group’s executives had resigned. So he takes a very important place in the team, because he is talkative, because he speaks loudly, because he has a sometimes mocking way of speaking. It poses a real problem in training.”

Lacazette frustrated, Tolisso not up to standard, Cherki impertinent

“There has been some friction in training recently, continued Sofiane Zouaoui. Some players think he’s not legitimate because he doesn’t put in the effort without the ball on the field. With a defender in training, there was a confusion. Lacazette, his frustration is very visible in the team. It weighs a lot. He refused an offer this summer from Saudi Arabia this summer (…) For Tolisso, it’s a problem of level”. Inducted last week into his new role, Fabio Grosso has his work cut out for him.
