Very discreet since the end of his career, Yoann Gourcuff should be invited to speak this Thursday. The opportunity for a big explanation?
Jérôme Rothen set himself a new challenge throughout the week: interviewing football players who have disappeared from the radar. On Monday, Stéphane Guivarch spoke about his new life as a swimming pool salesman and president of the R3 club that he leads in Trégunc, near Concarneau. And this Wednesday, Jacques-Henri Eyraud, who has also moved away from football since his forced departure from Olympique de Marseille, will in turn be invited to confess.
But the event of this “Lost to Sight” operation is expected for Thursday. Jérôme Rothen has in fact decided to find Yoann Gourcuff, who has been out of action for almost five years and the termination of his contract with Dijon. Since then, the former Bordeaux resident has been very discreet. If he sometimes makes the front page of celebrity magazines alongside his wife, Karine Ferri, the Breton has moved away from football and speaks very little. Last spring, he nevertheless gave an interview to West France in which he explained that he was having fun in his role as a father.
Toulalan even more discreet…
“I’m enjoying it. I have no problem saying that I am a stay-at-home dad. The days are busy, but seeing my children grow every day is a privilege. What’s more, in a peaceful context. Here, we are not bothered. There is space, the sea, the beaches, the forests, the paths…”, he explained about his new life in Ploemeur, near Lorient. He barely mentioned the possibility of a return, nevertheless explaining that his priority was elsewhere: “ If I had to do something, it would be related to football or tennis anyway. But right now, the priority is completely my family.“
If he agrees to respond to Jérôme Rothen, it will undoubtedly be a question of certain painful episodes in his career, first and foremost the Knysna fiasco in 2010. A bruise to which Yoann Gourcuff rarely returns. Another Blue from this era will also be called: his friend Jérémy Toulalan. However, it is very unlikely that he will respond…
