Amine Gouiri, the Rennes striker, has just made it very clear the identity of the selection whose colors he will wear.
End of suspense! After long weeks of controversy and contradictory noises, the international future of Amine Gouiri is known. The Stade Rennais center forward officially announced his decision, through a publication on social networks.
Gouiri opts for Algeria
As expected, Gouiri said yes to Algeria, the country where his parents come from. Administratively, everything is settled and Djamel Belmadi, the coach of the Greens, confirmed it a few days ago. The former Nice player will therefore imitate Houssem Aouar and Rayant Ait-Nouri, the other former Bleuets who chose to cross the Mediterranean to pursue their international career.
With pride, I announce my decision to join the Algerian selection 🇩🇿

“I will defend the Fennecs jersey body and soul to carry the colors of our country high and help write the next pages of its rich history,” he declared.
Gouiri does not deny France, however. He admitted that the “years spent in the French team will remain forever engraved in me”. ” Thank you for everything. The time has come to begin a new chapter,” he added.
Recently, Gouiri’s future had sparked a lot of controversy. A former Algerian coach (Nasser Sandjak) even went so far as to criticize Didier Deschamps for having called Stade Rennais to influence the choice of player. Florian Maurice, the sports director of the SRFC, had also put in his two cents by denying the change of nationality of his member.
