Arriving at the club in the summer of 2019, Rafael Leao has become for two seasons one of the major players in the Italian squad led by Stefano Pioli. The Portuguese international is the real star of the Rossonero.
The Portuguese attacking midfielder also extended his contract this summer until June 2028 with a release clause which could reach 175 million euros.
In comments reported by Fabrizio Romano, the new Milan number 10 announced his very high objectives with the Milanese and his desire to shine for several more seasons at the club. He also mentioned offers from Saudi clubs.
“ For me, the Champions League is worth more than €10 million in salary. I have not yet obtained good enough results to agree to go to Saudi Arabia. I am focused on doing great things with AC Milan. Milan will soon win the Champions League again,” did he declare.
An important match against Dortmund
Rafael Leao is ambitious. His goal: to win the Champions League with AC Milan in the very near future. Last season, his club reached the semi-final stage (loss to Inter Milan). This season, the Milanese would like to do better.
But for that, we will have to extricate ourselves from the group of death made up of Newcastle, Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund. The latter are AC Milan’s next opponents on October 4 at Signal Iduna Park.
The Italians were held in check during their first outing on their lawn against Newcastle (0-0).
