At a press conference this Monday, Xavi announced that he fully supported Ousmane Dembélé despite his departure to PSG.

Ousmane Dembélé finally holds its benchmark match with the Paris Saint Germain. Very restless on his side and finally decisive during the large Parisian victory against theOlympic Marseille (4-0) Sunday evening, the French international perhaps really launched his adventure in the French capital with a match which could give him confidence for the rest of the season.

Although he was often criticized for his lack of realism when he played in FC Barcelona (between 2017 and 2023), the 2018 world champion had gained the trust of Xavi when he arrived on the Blaugrana bench. The Spanish technician was not necessarily for the departure of Dembélé during the summer transfer window, but he does not seem to blame him for having left Catalonia.

Present at a press conference this Monday, the former Barcelona player was questioned about his former player and his debut with PSG. “I didn’t see the PSG matches, of course I remember, I love him the same way and I wish him the best”he expressed about himself before returning to his team and the solutions found to make up for the departure of the former Rennais. “We must continue. We found solutions with Rafa (Raphinha), Lamine (Yamal) or Ferran (Torres). Sometimes, “one player leaves, another appears, and we’re happy with what we have”he added.

New La Liga leader after their snatch victory against Celta Vigo and Real’s defeat against Atlético Madrid, Barça will travel to Mallorca on Tuesday. For his part, Ousmane Dembélé will have time to recover until the next PSG match, Saturday in Clermont. In the meantime, he could be affected by some problems due to his participation in insulting chants towards OM at the Parc des Princes.
