Lyon midfielder Maxence Caqueret indirectly criticized the choice of his two ex-teammates to leave the club.

Trained in Lyon, Bradley Barcola and Castello Lukeba left the Rhône when their club needed them most. When the results were at their worst, these two hopes left for other skies. The first at PSG and the second at Leipzig.

Caqueret would not have “left the club in trouble”

These departures were widely criticized at Groupama Stadium. The club’s supporters did not hesitate to insult them a month ago after a setback against PSG.

And the fans are clearly not the only ones to blame this duo. Maxence Caqueret, the Gones midfielder, also finds that the duo lacked respect for the club. This is what he implied when speaking about his own decision to turn down a move to the Premier League during the final days of the transfer window. “It was an interesting proposition, but leaving with a bad start was not an option for me. And I felt like I was leaving the club in trouble. I must do everything to put it at the highest level,” he declared during an interview with Canal+.

While indicating that he would never have abandoned OL, Caqueret still wished his former teammates the best: “They are top players. I respect their choice and we know that in football careers go quickly. But, I would have liked them to stay.”
