A former Premier League star has made surprising revelations about what is going on at the moment in Manchester.

Ex-Liverpool striker John Aldridge is convinced Erik ten Hag is on a tightrope at Manchester United.

Ten Hag eased the pressure on his shoulders by winning at Burnley. But Aldridge, in his column for The Sunday World, indicated that his days at Old Trafford are numbered: “The situation is toxic in this club, and has been for a long time. “The players are turning on every manager and, although Erik ten Hag has tried to put some of the big egos in their place, he now has a section of his dressing room working against him.”

The Irishman believes that Ten Hag is only reliving the difficulties experienced by its predecessors: “Mourinho had this problem at United and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was not able to solve these same problems. It’s a mess from top to bottom, although as a Liverpool fan I’m amused by it. I fear that Ten Hag will be the next victim of their failures, sooner or later.”

On the Manchester side, it is often the owners who are singled out when it comes to explaining the bad sporting situation. For Aldridge, the problem clearly lies elsewhere. “ If you want examples of what not to do when running football clubs, this club is the perfect illustration. United have spent crazy amounts of money in recent years and, although their fans always blame the owners for their problems, the problem goes deeper than that.
